Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Names Stacy Paterno as Assistant Vice President of Public Affairs



Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) today announced that Stacy Paterno will join the organization as assistant vice president of public affairs, effective January 28, 2013. Paterno will be responsible for overseeing all public affairs functions and will be tasked with raising the organization’s public profile through policy leadership, public relations and contributions to the state and regional healthcare systems. Paterno will serve as a senior strategic and communications advisor to executive leadership and will report to Michele Lederberg, chief administrative officer and general counsel.

Paterno offers over a decade of experience as a strategic communications and public affairs executive, and most recently served as the senior public affairs director for Lifespan. Prior to joining Lifespan, Paterno was partner at Johnson & Associates, where she provided regulatory, policy, public affairs and business strategy counsel to New England-based healthcare clients.  She began her public affairs career at Clarendon Group, an award-winning communications, government relations and public policy consulting firm. 

Paterno serves on the executive board of Reach Out and Read Rhode Island, an initiative that promotes literacy as integral to health and well-being, as well as the board of the Bethany Home of Rhode Island, a small not-for-profit skilled nursing facility located in Providence.

She is a graduate of Providence College, where she earned a B.A. in Art History. She resides in Barrington, Rhode Island with her husband and three children.
