A Word from Sam

Hello and welcome to the April edition of the Broker Brief. As you can see, a lot of changes are in the air this spring. For starters, we are renaming this publication “Broker Update.” Going forward, I’ll be sharing the leadership message in each edition. We will also be distributing it differently, with updates planned roughly every other month.

As I take on responsibility for the leadership message, I want to thank Melissa Cummings for passing along the baton, and for her support of our brokers and to our community in general. Since her arrival three years ago, she has been a tremendous broker advocate—driving more consistent communications, like the Broker Brief, and leading the charge to improve our products, technology, and service. We are also very proud of what Melissa has achieved on behalf of our community, serving as chair of the American Heart Association’s 2017 Go Red for Women® campaign in Southern New England. Under her leadership the annual campaign set a new record, raising over $413,000.

I’m excited to have this opportunity to communicate with all of you on a regular basis. You’ll be hearing more from me about new products, industry trends, and our ongoing enhancements to customer servicing. In fact, our commitment to delivering a best-in-class customer experience was recently acknowledged by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) with 4.5 out of 5 stars. As brokers, you will experience our customer service enhancements firsthand with our new large group employer reporting tool, Blue Insights, and our new wellness partnership with Virgin Pulse®.

I hope by now you have received and completed your response to the broker survey we sent out. This is a new effort for us and we are really excited to read the results. We look forward to sharing your feedback in our next edition. And lastly, speaking of feedback, we’ve been talking with many of you about what you want in this communication going forward, and as you can see, we’ve been making changes. Our newly designed Broker Update is searchable, fully optimized for mobile, and has an improved look and feel so you can find the information you need, when you need it. As mentioned, we are also reducing the frequency to every other month to ensure the communications you receive are helpful and impactful. As always, thank you for your support and partnership as we work to serve our mutual customers.
