Worksite health matters!

At Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce as presenting sponsor of the 24th annual Worksite Health Awards.

These days, it seems like everybody’s talking about wellness and well-being. Wellness initiatives have now become an expected part of the corporate work experience, where work/life harmony—balancing the responsibilities of both the home and the office—is high on the list of priorities for most people.

It certainly is on the list of our associates at BCBSRI! That’s why we’ve built our own comprehensive wellness program, Rhodes to Well-being, as well as a constructive alliance with Virgin Pulse, an innovative company, like our own, established on a vision of a workforce that is engaged, productive, and resilient.

The companies profiled here today, winners of Worksite Health Awards, are all of those things, as well as inspiring. They remind us that the opportunities for wellness are as varied and numerous as ways to exercise and healthy foods to eat.

We hope by posting their stories here that you’ll be inspired to create or participate in interesting wellness approaches at your company.

Your company’s workforce is an incredible asset. Let’s work had to keep it in shape.

Good health and RI: A winning combination

Laurie White

I’m proud to say that the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce is celebrating our 150th anniversary in 2018. Throughout our history, we’ve been committed to providing our members and the local business community with tools and resources to connect, grow, and succeed.

Those tools may change with technology, but the premise remains the same today: our business climate needs to be healthy to thrive. A healthy economy and healthy businesses go hand-in-hand. To help business succeed, we all need to be healthy…good health works!

And good worksite health is the premise of the Worksite Health Awards, now in its 24th year. We’re more proud than ever to partner with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island to present this important event. It’s an honor to see some of the great work that our local businesses—large and small—are doing to help make their workplaces and their employees as healthy as possible.

In addition to the important focus on physical health, workplace wellness is also about volunteering and giving back to the communities we work in. It’s creating awareness about breast cancer detection and prevention. It’s fostering social interaction and sharing of ideas, information, goodwill, and healthy lifestyles.

I’m proud to be a part of this event, and to help honor local companies embracing health and wellness as more than just buzzwords…they’re the secret to business success, and to our state’s collective health.

On behalf of the Chamber—and our entire business community—I’d like to congratulate and thank all of our winners – because of you, good health is working!
